Children & young people

From the age of 7, equal at the table and equal for the prizes — and what parents need to know.

Children do not get a side table here. They sit at the same tables, play by the same rules and can win just like anybody else.

From what age?

From 7 years old. If you are seven on the day of the tournament, you can play. There is no upper limit.

Children play as equals

  • There is no separate children’s category and no separate tables.
  • Children compete for the prizes on equal terms. Whoever wins, wins.
  • The rules are explained out loud to everybody before the first game.
  • If you have never played a tournament before, say so at check-in and we will go through it again, calmly.

Parents register their children

Children and young people under 18 are registered by a parent or legal guardian. At registration we need:

  • the child’s name and age,
  • the name of the parent or guardian,
  • an email address and a phone number on which that person can be reached on the day,
  • express consent to the child taking part and to the terms of participation.

The confirmation email goes to the parent’s or guardian’s address.

Supervision and accompaniment

⚠️ This section must be decided deliberately and checked by a lawyer before going live. What follows is a proposal.

  • Children under 12 are brought by an accompanying adult who stays on site for the whole tournament.
  • From 12, young people may take part on their own if the parent or guardian confirms this at registration and is reachable by phone during the tournament.
  • Responsibility for supervision stays with the parents or the accompanying adult. The organising team runs the tournament; it does not take on the supervision of individual children.
  • Accompanying adults do not need to register and pay nothing. If they want to play themselves, they register in the normal way.

Going home

Children under 12 leave with their accompanying adult. From 12, young people may leave on their own unless their parents said otherwise at registration. If you would like it handled differently, please write it in the “anything we should know?” field.

Photos

Photos are optional. Registration has a separate tick box for it — taking part does not depend on it, and consent can be withdrawn at any time. Without consent, the child will not appear in published photos. More in the privacy information.
